Series: Menorcan Light

A morning on the water off the south coast of Menorca. We hired a small boat from Son Bou and headed west towards Cala Galdana, stopping at beaches along the way to swim and snorkel in the extraordinarily clear Mediterranean water. Holly had been determined to experience a properly turquoise and blue sea — and that morning she got it.

Built through layers of translucent blues and turquoise, Menorcan Blue is less about a particular view than the memory of that morning: the brilliant colour of the water, the pale limestone shore and the feeling of being out at sea together. The bow of our boat enters the painting at the edge, while almost everything else is given over to the blue.
