Part of the Downland Light series, Long Man's View explores the interplay of light, colour and rhythm within the agricultural landscape. The sweeping bands of yellow rapeseed, fresh spring greens and distant hedgerows create a sense of movement across the composition, while the elongated format echoes the breadth of the view itself.

The painting was inspired by a cycle ride along the ridge above the Long Man of Wilmington, where the elevated perspective reveals the changing patterns of cultivation and season across the South Downs.
